IRS lost 40% of IT staff, 80% of tech leaders in 'efficiency' shakeup
If video games have taught me anything, rotating these will unlock the next room ...
@Natasha_Jay @catsalad DO IT!
The Victoria & Albert Museum in London has acquired the first video ever uploaded to YouTube, as well as an early watch page of the video-sharing platform, for its collection.
The video, “Me at the zoo,” was first uploaded to the site on April 23, 2005.

“A State that Massacres Its Own People Cannot Be a Force of Liberation for Others”
In this interview, Palestine solidarity activists from the Chinese diaspora speak with Iranian activists in exile about the uprising that took place in Iran in January 2026, comparing notes about resistance to various forms of authoritarianism.
@pallenberg ich hab es aktiviert, aber noch nicht nutzen können.
Würde es gerne in meinem whoocommerce-Shop implementieren, hab aber noch kein passendes plugin gefunden. Hat da draußen jemand einen Tipp für mich?
The biggest folly imho is this idea of "let's cram every domain into #ActivityStreams somehow". Flatten everything and project it onto this small set of social primitives that AS defines.
It is once more a choice of pragmatism: "Hey, I've seen it working with Mastodon, so I copied that. And #LinkedData extension mechanism is a handwaved horror show".
So understandable perhaps that we did it. But now we must overcome this trend which has taken stubborn root and drags the ecosystem down.
@smallcircles @eyeinthesky I was mostly thinking of the Follow activity and the following collection: it doesn't contain Follow activities, it contains Actors: https://hachyderm.io/users/thisismissem/following?page=1
In Mastodon the "likes" collection for a Note doesn't even include the Actors, just the count: https://browser.pub/https%3A%2F%2Fhachyderm.io%2Fusers%2Fthisismissem%2Fstatuses%2F115622304738688291%2Flikes
No AI in email! ✅
That's what we at Tuta stand for - and #Microsoft has just proven why it was a good decision.
😡 Check how Copilot even accessed confidential emails: ➡️ https://tuta.com/blog/microsoft-copilot-reads-confidential-business-mail
@Tutanota don't worry while copilot is trying its best to crash the AI gravy plane, everyone will rally around the hero they deserve to save themselves - Captain Gemini.
Today @mkljczk introduced a proposal for MAEPs (Mastodon API Enhancement Proposals) which would be similar to the FEP process but for converging on API schema for servers that are not Mastodon but who are using the Mastodon client API
https://codeberg.org/fediverse-pl/maep/issues/1
#fedidev #fediverse #MAEPs
This is an area I have an unreasonable amount of conversations about over the past years and this proposal seems like a very reasonable shorter term solution to some of the issues we (fediverse meta discussions) have all been talking about lately.
Here are The Vaselines, also from Glasgow, covering Nirvana's "Lithium"
I feel I should add Mogwai. Here is "Hunted by a freak"
@alexchapman Someone should point out to this person that if they do any online banking, that uses SSL/TLS encryption...
@quanin Yeah lmao
@ColesStreetPothole @Nickiquote
Nick is the ideas man. I simply go where I'm needed. Many people are saying like Superman, only much much better.
@TheBreadmonkey @ColesStreetPothole @Nickiquote
Hmmm so all I have to do is convince @Nickiquote of my outrageous plan and @TheBreadmonkey becomes de-facto super and sexy henchman?
Can I bring myself to share world domination?
"Hey Nick I've got this idea I think you'll like. . ."
Another statement about #ThriveMessenger
Someone has been saying that its not safe to recommend all because it simply uses SSL/TLS for encryption. They are forgetting that its an early alpha, and once we move into beta it will be using an XMPP protocol most likely. So before anyone starts believing this person in my replies, just know that its safe to use despite what this person is saying.
Edit: Passwords are, not, stored in plain text, so no, the damage is not done.

When it comes to music, the only question is whether Hysteria or Pyromania is a better Def Leppard album. And the answer is, I don’t know.
@rands Whoa, that’s a tough one. Pyromania is one of the first albums I ever bought.
Good old Columbia House subscription was good for something!
BFF photo shoot. Photo from collection, no date/info.
@evan @cwebber @kopper @hongminhee Couldn’t we agree to standardize on expanded json-ld? We would not need any json-ld processor, we would not need to fetch or cache any context. There would be no way to shadow properties.
@wordsmith unless they're pushing recession indicators like labubus and blind boxes 😆
@haubles what's in the box? Iiiiinflation! *AI applause*
@whitequark @soatok @sophieschmieg
Ibex has a constant-time mode, which makes operations like divide take their worst-case time in all cases. Making divide variable time is more common on simpler pipelines. For out-of-order chips, knowing that each operation takes a fixed number of cycles makes scheduling simpler and, generally, scheduling and register allocation are more power, timing, and area constrained than functional units, so the tradeoff will be between some divides being faster or having more instructions in flight at a time. The latter is usually better.
Specialised ISAs such as OTBN do make constant-time guarantees for divide. Some DSPs do as well.
On the way back fm Lidl the sunset.
There was no wind, the contrails stay around for longer.
