After a relatively brief colder & snowier interlude, we've re-entered a period that will be characterized by sustained anomalous warmth in U.S. West. Today, daily record high temperatures are again occurring across portions of Southern Rockies and interior SW. #CAwx #COwx

Following last week's heavy & disruptive Sierra Nevada snowfall, an extremely warm atmospheric river will cause substantial rain to fall atop snowpack even at high elevations this week. *However,* widespread serious flooding is *not* expected...for now. Why? [Thread] #CAwx

"...The CHP said later in a news release that a 61-year-old Modesto woman died in the crash. She was in a Tesla with a 60-year-old driver who suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Ventura County Medical Center.

The pair from Modesto had been traveling eastbound on Highway 126 when, for unknown reasons, they veered across the highway and into the westbound lanes, according to the CHP...."

Snow is falling today in Yosemite National Park. The trees in the foreground are beginning to show an accumulation of snow, though some of the green is still visible. Geological features, evident in yesterday’s view, are obscured today by snow and clouds. Half Dome, which on a clear day would stand out prominently on the center right, is hidden entirely in this view from today. Snow piles up in the immediate foreground while the sky color is primarily grey and white. It will be interesting to see how much snow this storm leaves over the next few days.
