The US just designated an Italian hacker collective (similar to Riseup) a terrorist organization. Please read this article about Autistici/Inventati, which I’ve reposted from Sabot Media https://micahflee.com/the-server-called-paranoia-defend-autistici-inventati/
@TheBreadmonkey The sequel to the unsolved Disappearance of Ben’s Small Grater. I will be glued to the timeline for updates.

I know this is a bit tmi, but I have a complicated relationship with clothes, and pants in particular. I found a pair of pants I get on with and literally don't buy any other kind. They are reasonably priced and comfortable. Everything fits in and doesn't move around too much (sorry for being sexy on the internet, but we've all got a bum - deal with it). However they do have a tendency to fall apart after a while. I will charitably say this is because I clean them fastidiously and not that my balls excrete acid somehow, like someone in my marriage who will remain anonymous has theorised. I therefore have to occasionally sadly say goodbye to my old friends, with whom I have shared many adventures. But I went through some Very Hard Times not that long ago and took to mending my pants (which for the interested, are exclusively black - that's just how I roll). And then I discovered I got a kick out of mending them with gold thread. And now I can't stop. And I imagine it's not terribly appealing to Mrs Bread to have a husband who refuses to throw away his old pants, but instead spends hours badly sewing them with the wrong colour thread. But the thing is.....a) she's not interested in me at the moment anyway, and b) my brain has decided it's like kintsugi. Whatever the pants version of kintsugi is. Pantsugi. And it means I rescue my old friends and we go on even more adventures, and they get a chance to live the second half of their life a little snazzier. Just me and my pants with their lil gold sparkle. Going running around town and getting into mischief. Anyway I've just done a bunch of sewing and it's made me strangely happy. And it's not like I never buy new pants. I did recently. And I got them from somewhere else. A trusted premium brand. And do you know how much they were? THIRTY POUNDS!!!!!!!!!! FOR PANTS!!!!!!!!!!! It should be a crime. The worst crime. Charging £30 for pants. And when they inevitably die, I will need to decide whether they deserve to be inducted into the Gold Club. Honestly I think they may not deserve it. I think they might be one and done. The audacity. Sometimes I read what I've written and genuinely wonder if I'm ok.
@TheBreadmonkey I think this is great, and would love the story of how you settled on gold thread in the first place
Google says YOU must wait 24 hours if you download an app onto your OWN DEVICE if it's from an "Unverified developer". What ever happened to user choice and Android freedom?! 😡
Google has started rolling out its new ""Advanced Flow", which requires you to wait a 24-hour waiting period if you want to install apps from unverified developers.

Someone (ok fine it was the guy, I’m naming and shaming him) ate my leftover fried rice that I was saving for lunch and dinner and I’m very mad
@farah Reheating precooked rice (especially for a second time) is fraught with danger anyway because of Bacillus cereus. You need to cool it very quickly after the first cook.
My bright, brave, beautiful boy Marcel. ❤️
I'm just hearing about Pix, the Brazilian central bank digital payment system, free for person-to-person, instant, etc. Wildly popular, now used in 8 LatAm countries.
MasterCard, Visa, Meta & Co. teamed up to persuade US gov to impose tariffs this summer bc Brazil's practices "may undermine the competitiveness of U.S. companies engaged in digital trade and electronic payment services." How pathetic.
@lwn There is no responsible use of LLMs.
All the cabbages and some tomatoes picked. Some flea beetle damage for reference (and this is really the first day they've been bad, they did this in <24 hours). And happy goats in a new eating area. Yum, rose bushes.
Back to farm work.
@sundogplanets
Our goats loved the neighbour's roses.
@TheBreadmonkey I knew there was a fun British colloquialism for having a crush.

Who thinks Ben should take up the hobby of #embroidery?
misheard @alexchapman just now. he said he was fixing one of his light bulbs, I ended up mishearing it as boobs and proceeded to jokingly say he has boobs. he’s a guy lol
@chloehodges Oh god lmfao.
I spent today driving 2.5 hours each way to watch my daughter's new football team lose every game in a tournament. It rained heavily at times, they scored no goals, and she picked up an injury (she'll be fine but had to sit out the final game)
It's going to be a long season.
