So, I have less than a week of notice that my grandparents funeral is happening next Saturday. I assume my dad finally told me because he figures it's too late to make it.
(For reference, the service is in upstate NY, I am in Washington State)
It is not too late
My wife will send me.
The only question is if I should go. This poll is nonbinding, I am thinking about it, but I am taking opinions.

The thing is, under capitalism, it doesn't matter at all what *you* want to use AI for, because capitalism's only purpose is war. Whoever has the best war machine wins, period.
@woozle @futureisfoss - Local groups are starved for "remote work" type of volunteers that can do IT work and social media / awareness.
If you want help getting connected to a local group, DM me your rough location (local town or city) and what types of initiatives you would like to push and I can see if I can find some groups that would need your help!

Most violence is committed by men. It’s a reasonable bet then that something approaching 1.8 million violent offences against women and girls were committed last year by white men.
That’s about 1 offence for every 20 white men.
But for some reason Danny Thomas and his followers are disinterested in that. I wonder why
@urlyman because the proportion of violent domestic abusers is much higher amonst his followers than amongst other white males or any other group for that matter?
Many seem to have criminal convictions for it.

I sometimes half-jokingly wonder if any foreigners actually learn German, or do they also just get by somehow? Like, I know a guy from the USSR who went to school here, and he still doesn't speak well.

Native German speaker here and i have to say, i don't know 😬
I remember a friend of mine learning German. He asked me how to say a certain expression. I told him. He adapted it to a slightly different context and i had to tell him "in that case it's totally different"
I regularly joke that i feel very lucky to be German and therefore speak German because learning German as a second language is SO hard
