Good news! After the story broke about #ICE buying shock gloves, we learned they were already being used on kids by school cops (SROs) in Omaha Public Schools. But now they aren't.
As Rachel Maddow reminds us, pushback works!

My mum is a counsellor. She used the phrase "learned helplessness" in passing about ten years ago, and it took me years to understand what it meant.
When you ask for help and nothing is done, you learn you can't change your circumstances. So you stop asking, which has a particular charge to it when you're autistic.
One of the most rewarding articles I've researched and written, as part of my own unmasking and seeing the patterns.

Si, porque hay quien tiene dudas. Yo no.
the nurse told me to measure my blood pressure every morning, keep doing the uh eating right and exercising thing* until i get a consistent 140/90 or less. i have been doing so.
the tester is some cheap thing off amazon, doctors are fine with this one weird trick cos they use basically the same one
right arm i typically score ~150/90, left arm i'm getting ~135/85
i am doubting i have notably higher blood pressure in my right arm than my left
i'm beginning to think in practical terms this number is +/-10mmHg
* 30 min walk every day is annoyingly effective in making me feel generally better

The other three are solved in other build systems by "constraint" files which can be shared by multiple solving units.
this is where i realized why other build systems are so full of shit
i will now be trying to explain this in a reduced enough format to emacs-devel to explain why tree-sitter is one of many harms towards our health
Bonjour les gens,
Y a quoi comme alternative à debian qui tourne sans IA et ou on peux faire marcher krita, LMMS et audacity ?

I'm not the only one to note that there is something very wrong in this country when criminal damage to a golf course is rendered as 'terrorism' but marauding white gangs threatening & terrorising people from ethnic minorities are treated as having 'legitimate grievances';
there was a time when I thought claims we were on the road the fascism were over-wrought & hyperbolic, but I have come to the conclusion they were right & I was being complacent.
Democracy is disappearing fast!
To eveyone on Mastodon:
The real lesson of the US attack on autistici/inventi is that WE ARE NEXT. Mastodon servers mostly do not run things like PRISM, are often based outside the US, and compete directly with the Tech Bros and their ad and tracker supported shit for an audience.
Also lots of anti-Trump activism here.
If we don't fight for autistici/inventi today, we will have to fight for Mastodon tomorrow. Domino effects are real with Fascists as we saw at the start of WWII.
Same here. It acts as if taking a holiday without leaving the country is something new and not the thing that was the default for most people until very recently.
My generation is probably the first in the UK for whom international travel for holidays is routine. And, even then, growing up, a lot of our poorer neighbours didn’t go abroad for holidays. Cheap flights to places where the pound had more spending power than within the UK changed that: it was cheaper to spend a week in a lot of places in Europe than it was to do the same in touristy places in the UK, and the weather was better.
A staycation is not this, it is doing holiday things without going anywhere. For me, it was a reaction to the fact that people always went away on holiday for the few weeks of the year when the weather where I was living was hot and sunny: don’t go away then, enjoy having some time off to appreciate the place you live in that is a vacation destination for other people at that time!
@david_chisnall @rpbook @neil
About doing holiday things while home: I can only applaud that! I'm extremely fortunate to live in London (my favourite place), a huge amount to go and do. I'm actually about to traipse through Epping Forest to visit the church where they filmed the third Knives Out film, I can't wait! That's even without having to be on holiday.
Other places might be tougher but even so: there's bound to be places people haven't been to before, "backyards" are well worth a visit!
Just saying.

¿Para qué crees que ha ido Aznar a Ceuta?
A) Para solucionar el problema.
B) Para hacerse la foto de héroe turístico.
C) Para incendiar España porque es un patriota de 💩

We've shipped more commits in the past week than in the past year, and none of them are new features.
Bug fixes. Federation compatibility. Performance. Tests. Boring work that makes the new web UI and mobile apps possible.
Earlier Tonight: Pixelfed to GoToSocial account migration now works properly.
More bug + federation fixes on the way. 🚀
@pixelfed we need #gotosocial app
Non so esattamente cosa pensare.
The games industry is a big one, and it's easy to feel like an intruder. How'd I get in? In truder window! In actuality, I got in by making the games I wished existed and meeting a community of other people in the same situation. Here's a story of impostor syndrome, and of Trans Theft Horso.

Because of the unacceptable environmental and climate impact of data centers (and other stuff), I feel bad using AI and try to do so with sobriety. Am I doing enough? Am I just self-serving? Am I doing too much, even, as "AI is inevitable, and individual choice do not matter much"?
