Social media doesn't have to be bad. It can be beautiful.
But in our digital world, we've learnt a lot about behaviour online. What had once seemed simple, putting people in a digital town square, we now realise is not. People act differently online.
Now, as we build alternatives that take us back to the root benefits of social media - connection and learning - it's our chance to build in a way that reflects human behaviour online.
So, let's grow something to be proud of.

There was an update on their facebook page a day ago, so it seems like it's definitely on.
I've just got a ticket - there's not many left apparently.
I recorded 1 hour from the set around lunchtime on Sunday.
Wicked tunes, sadly I don't have a tracklisting.
Check out the nice chilled #FunkyHouse tracks that were playing!
All captured on a Samsung S20 pointed in the general direction of the tent, not bad quality!
At one point during the recording a little dachshund took issue to a lady standing nearby, and started barking for ages, no idea why, she wasn't doing anything!

That Alt Text is fantastic.
The game now supports multiplayer. It's only possible to see the other players walking around. It's so easy to add multiplayer in Firefly Zero that it's almost ridiculous.
I also added support for scaling and vertical positioning of sprites and increased the resolution of the lights and barrels.
It's starting to become an actual game. Next up is adding some interaction between the players.

You could be one of those rare people with no smartphone, no laptop. I can hand you your first device with Facebook installed, and if you didn't use the device — just kept it on and logged into it for the first time — we'd have ads waiting for you without you searching for anything.
I know this, because I was that guy (once) and because of where I work.

I’ve been working on a small Fediverse project called "The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Fediverse".
It started as a simple directory of Fediverse instances, but I’ve been gradually turning it into something more useful:
- discovering new instances through federation peers
- filtering suspicious/spammy hosts
- monitoring known instances over time
- automatically hiding servers that stay offline
- bringing them back if they recover
- keeping the whole thing updated with GitHub Actions
The monitored set is already around 27,000 instances, so I also had to rethink the collector to use bounded concurrency and checkpointing instead of checking everything one by one.
Still very much a work in progress, but it’s been a fun way to learn more about how the Fediverse actually behaves in the wild.

Guidare un monopattino o una bicicletta come se si fosse i padroni della strada incuranti delle indicazioni stradali, del traffico o dei pedoni non mi sembra una scelta molto razionale, ma se per alcuni fenomeni funziona così... Pazienza.
Io, coi miei tempi di reazione, posso anche tentare di frenare ma se quello ha deciso di farsi investire c'è poco da fare.
