Thanks! Apparently upper case XPM would not work, changed to xpm and all worked!

@davidgerard if they're AGI? Why do they still need training?

And this is how the disastrous Debian policy is even worse than flushing a foundational project down the tubes: they were seen as a reasonable and conservative organization, meaning their decision will be used as a template for anyone else wanting to appear centrist
@mark The problem with BMDs is that they require the voters to diligently confirm that the printed selections are correct before casting the ballot, and every study done so far suggests that voters don’t actually do this very well.
So a malfunctioning or malicious BMD could affect an election outcome.
@mattblaze I received funny looks when I verified my VVPAT printout.
The Falkland Islands have been British since 1765, and in 2013 the residents voted 99.8 percent in favor of tensioning a British colony, but now, Argentinian president Javier Milei says, Argentina wants the island, and Trump says he is "reevaluating" whether he supports Britain's claim to the islands.
The wannabe dictators sure are having a good time in 2026.
@randahl Argentina making a lot of assumptions there that they might want to think a little harder about. They'll have their invasion force all ready to go, the phone will ring, and it'll be Trump, telling them the Falklands are American now.
If you could choose.
Veronica Explains is a series of really fun and useful videos about computing, technology, self-hosting, FOSS, Linux, retro computing and assorted other stuff. You can follow at:
➡️ @vkc
(Don't worry if it looks blank to you, that just means no one from your server has followed it yet. Follow the account and its videos will start gradually showing up on your server too.)
You can also follow Veronica's non-video account at @veronica
whole entire layers of our current computing environments have been specified by people with a financial interest in being able to program the user to behave in ways conducive to their economic model.
if you want to change your relationship with computing, you’re going to have to not bring along all of that, no matter how familiar it may feel. your familiarity is often one with the state of shit sucking. try becoming familiar with other stuff instead, maybe!
So this just happened: My latest video reached 20,000 views on YouTube.
I am so grateful. ♥️
Goodnight Mastodon. 🌙
@randahl
It's a very good video. Well deserved!
@siracusa ok. It seems to always stop advancing at the around the same “scanned folders” count / roughly the same “scanned files” count, but I’ll let it ride longer.
@thomanthony Hmm, if the files number stops changing during this part of the scan, that’s bad. Please send me an email at hyperspace at hypercritical.co and I’ll give you instructions to debug it further.
