The anti-abortion bill has stalled in the Senate of South Carolina, which would have made it the most restrictive abortion law in the #UnitedStates 🇺🇸.

Apparently jailing women for 30 years was something many #GOP members (& all of the #Democrats) would not accept as law, & attempts by other #Republicans to soften the bill were rejected.

Even the Governor was not thrilled with the bill.

#Democrats & some #Republicans have been pushing a measure that would force the #DOJ to make public more documents from the case.

#Trump’s shift is an implicit acknowledgement that supporters of the measure have enough votes to pass the #House, although it has an unclear future in the #Senate.
