Twenty-nine years ago on this day, #httpget 0.1 was released.

I found the tool a few days later and within a few months I became the maintainer. We later renamed it. Twice. The last name it got is #curl. It stuck.

httpget was my first insight and lesson into HTTP and since then I have kept learning it.

httpget 0.1 was written by Rafael Sagula, who unfortunately is not with us anymore.

@mattesilver Rust can convert between sync and async within functions (tokio complains if you carelessly layer sync and async too much, but that is tokio's choice, and not a dead-end either). Languages with threads generally don't have this problem, because they can always spawn a thread for running blocking code, or block a thread waiting on a signal from async code. JS is unique in insisting on a single event loop.

I wish we could take all of these people and their delusions and point them towards working on something that matters. All of these techbros with their infinite energy to create wealth, if only they could be persuaded that saving the world was a worthwhile cause. Hey bro, I like totally saved the world today more than you. No way, bro, I'm gonna really hustle and grind to save the world more than you tomorrow. Like, totally clear up the oceans then play squash and have a matcha enema.

"layers of complexity" is a vague boogeyman. Where abstraction layers are needed depends on the problem.
Rust's async has been incredibly successful. It simplifies building of large-scale high-performance network services. At least 20% of Web traffic already goes through async Rust.

Because I am currently stepping in to take these courses but I am the head of IT, no longer an active teacher.

The school uses the UK curriculum, does help with residency for those outside of Japan, has a union.

Teaching credentials preferred, but how they factor in can be variable.

"What color is your function?" is a wonderful title. It's so good, the title alone could win the Sundance Festival.

But that post is about a JavaScript-specific limitation (not applicable to other languages), and some wishful bikeshedding about syntax (which turns out to be a leaky abstraction that makes locking ambiguous, very problematic in low-level languages).

But *color* is so catchy. It's not well defined that post, but you can't have "color" in your async, whatever that is. Just can't.
