Build 183 of Toot! 26 is now out! This one adds the ability to actually do quote toots! It is still missing notifications for quotes and a few little UI tweaks, but other than that the feature is almost done.

The Israeli soldiers who gang-raped a Palestinian detainee at the Sde Teiman torture center held a press conference boasting that they are still free. They proudly declared: “We will prevail!”
As for the Israeli army’s military prosecutor who dared to investigate their case — an investigation that led nowhere due to pressure from the Chief of Staff, the Defense Minister, and Netanyahu — she allegedly leaked the videos of the rape to the media. She has now been placed under detention on charges of obstructing the investigation after attempting suicide yesterday during the rapists’ press conference. She was dismissed from her position, defamed publicly, and is currently under investigation.
Remember when Elon Musk said Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife MacKenzie Scott was destroying Western civilization by giving billions to charities for women, minorities, and marginalized groups?
After learning about his comment, she doubled her donations.
Perfect response.
"Israeli soldiers whose leaked recording revealed their crime of torturing and raping a kidnapped Palestinian from Gaza inside the "Sde Teiman" prison, came out in a press conference to defend their act—and even to demand thanks for it."

The revelation last week by Israel’s top military lawyer, Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, that she leaked the footage of a gang rape of a Palestinian detainee at the Sde Teiman military detention centre in 2024 has shaken the country’s political and media establishment.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the leak “perhaps the most severe public relations attack that the State of Israel has experienced”.

This is why I never ever ever recommend Facebook to senior citizens, let alone the general populace. Great topic @pluralistic.
@curtmack @pluralistic @Wyatt_H_Knott @laprice @paninid Cynicism was cool 15 years ago, but by now it's a way to avoid taking action to make things better.
Good morning! Today’s a great day to help the people of Gaza.
Even $5 can make a difference, especially if you choose “weekly.”

@stfn It’s s3 compatible, so it’s a breeze to set up.
I used my current against with my old Masto instance and it’s been super cheap. I’ve had it up for a couple of years and it’s cost me about 5US a month.
I am begging people on fedi to stop censoring potentially triggering words. Please. Word filters stop working when you put a random asterisk in a word, and it tanks readability for people that dont filter the words but do have a reading-related disability.
@pluralistic Reading your book, I thought that: #KKR has acquired Telecom Italia's (TIM) Italian landline network for $22 billion. The newly established company, #FiberCop, is in the process of constructing a fiber optic network, supported by $1.85 billion in funding from the Italian government and the European Union's National Recovery and Resilience Plan ( #RRF). The Italian government, led by "sovereigntists" politicians, has essentially handed over this crucial infrastructure to a foreign company.
@raymaccarthy Not called "direct messages" on the web interface, though I'm not sure how that makes any difference.
This is about the semantics of who the recipients are, not about whether servers can read messages.
I'm not sure what "browser DNS" is or what it has to do with this,
Y’all!!! This is not a drill! @raventhesciencemaven has made it over here to fedi!

Semi-periodic reminder that the DM feature here is utterly broken and should not be regarded as "private" in any meaningful sense. And its semantics seem designed to violate the principle of least surprise.
Example: ANYONE mentioned in a message, not just tagged at the start, is a recipient. So if you send someone a DM that says "That @mattblaze guy is an ignorant moron", I get a copy.
I was reminded of this behavior just now.
