@quixoticgeek noting that you may have no existing way of getting cold, drinking water from that large header tank for your UK hot water system. And in my house the feed from the header tank to the hot water cylinder has a stop valve that have seized and jammed open.
More modern systems with a combi boiler don't need a header tank and have mains pressure both hot and cold so mixer taps work better.

Ce n'est pas pour rien que la NSA engrange des quantités énormes de données chiffrées qu'elle ne sait pas déchiffrer, dans l'espoir qu'ils pourront les déchiffrer un jour.

Si ton coffre fuite, tu ne le saura peut-être pas. Et donc potentiellement quelqu'un peut être en train d'essayer de le casser.
Je préfère éviter ce risque inutile.

thanks to @hko patiently reminding me that in fact this is precisely the category of failure mode that the disjoint protocols of email and pgp are well-known to result in. i have been so intensely ocused upon the extremely specific subproblem of symmetric crypto for filesystem data integrity the past week that i had entirely failed to appreciate that (of course!!!!) nobody really even agrees upon the ideal delegated trust structure for email-like communication in the first place!

London Mayor Sadiq Khan's blocking of the Metropolitan Police's contract with Palantir was welcomed, but we now should focus on the other 12 police forces who *have* taken up contracts with the controversial tech firm, and are in various stages of the 'pilot' programmes ahead of formal procurement.

Given the failure of the claims for efficiency gains in health, for the police it may be not so much efficiency that's the issue, rather enhanced surveillance capacity!
