@onepict The greatest disillusionment I’ve had with FOSS over the years is that it is not, by & large, a progressive movement.

It seems to be more libertarian than anything else which may be why it is so easily hijacked by capitalist, corporate, & fascist actors.

@craiggrannell I hope the talks between Canada and the EU this fall can smooth the way into Canada eventually joining. I mean, we're not exactly part of Europe, but we're good friends! Iceland's politics appear a bit bonkers, unfortunately, but here's hoping the polls are off, as you say.

@TasDave @luciedigitalni voters in that electorate have felt for many years that the old parties in both State and Federal politics don’t care about them or their lives, and haven’t had a politician with integrity representing them since Tim Fischer retired 25 years ago. They care less about what party their rep is in and more about how much fight their rep brings to the old parties. Hence the ON and the other conservative (but less fighty) independent polling so much higher than the Liberal and National party candidates. Integrity means something different out there — not whether you stick with one party, but whether you will tell the old parties what they’re getting wrong.

The voters are angry, and they want someone to bring that anger to Parliament.

10 days ago I found a kitten on the side of the path where I go jogging. She was hiding in a patch of grass so I scooped her up and brought her home. She was healthy, just really hungry. So then we posted photos of her online and a nice family adopted her, there she is below in her new home. Her name is Cookie. I am really grateful that I had the opportunity to help this cat to get off the streets and into a new home.

Il punto è un altro, ed è piuttosto semplice: una comunità subisce un attacco e finisce offline e voi cogliete immediatamente l’occasione per pubblicizzare servizi della vostra costellazione, presentandoli come «alternative italiane».

L’alternativa di cui parlate nel post non è soltanto tecnica: è un’alternativa di ecosistema, di luoghi e di comunità. Ed è proprio qui che sta l’ipocrisia: predicare decentralizzazione mentre si cerca da anni di accentrare utenti, visibilità e narrazione del Fediverso italiano attorno alla propria galassia di servizi con metodi più che discutibili (nomi di dominio, brandjacking ecc…)

Quindi sì: so perfettamente di cosa sto parlando. Il problema non è se WriteFreely carichi le immagini come WordPress. Il problema è approfittare delle difficoltà di un’altra comunità per promuovere la propria. #sciacalli #ipocriti

E le faccine che ridono non rendono meno evidente la cosa.

Sarebbe da arrabbiarsi. Come quando certi PRESUNTI etero dicono "i gay hanno già, non hanno bisogno di".

Tutti i principi di etica digitale del mondo tranne quello di base "non parlate di noi senza di noi".

Se devo parlare per me, sull'AI che genera immagini e audio, me la son già messa via: è più il tempo che perdi per affinare degli output privi di un vero controllo "millimetrico" come le esperienze sensoriali vorrebbero, che quello impiegato a ridimensionarsi e dire Ok, la mia voce fa schifo / il podcasting non fa per me; le immagini non le vedo / evito di mettercele...

Ma non tutti hanno la fortuna. Se una persona ha dei problemi a comunicare perché ha la SLA o altre situazioni complesse, gli togli la voce perché usa quella elettronica? O se uno era un podcaster a cui hanno operato la gola, tu gli dici di non usare la voce elettronica dopo che ha fatto podcast per una vita e la tecnologia gli permette di continuare? Io capisco tutto, ma l'etica è qualcosa di molto più complesso del "sì a questo e no a quell'altro".
