Do you know the Girl About Town blog, covering wheelchair-accessible spots in #VictoriaBC ? We've added links to their accessibility reviews for several of the patios in our resource directory, for your brunch-planning pleasure.

To #Debian community: "Responsible Use Of Generative AI" is an oxymoron. GenAI is irresponsible and pernicious. Your voting means whitewashing Big Tech ecocide, destruction of Free Software & Culture and their agenda against the marginalized communities.
PS: A huge thank you for those Debian members that proposed and voted NoAI options.
Now, there are alternatives:

Die meisten Menschen verstehen bis heute nicht, wie professionell, strategisch und bestens finanziert sie seit Jahrzehnten zum Klima hinters Licht geführt werden. Von Leuten, die mit fossiler Energie reich werden.
Der Zweifel ist ihr Produkt.

I love how the reason for all the proposed new data centers is about "winning the AI race with China." Meanwhile opposing the creation of new data centers means you fell for China's bot farm propaganda that is seeking to turn public opinion against US advancement in AI. The implication is that people who oppose new data centers are both anti-American and gullible tools.
most of all i hate that we can never live in peace. i hate how much sleep i have lost from the most craven people in human history using my build processes as their pawns. just let me sleep
going back to sleep now and crying. i don't want to have to solve these fucking problems it's so cruel and unfair that literally nobody else cares so i am forced to doing it for them

There's a low rider jeans requirement too. At least two thirds of your butt must be showing at all times.
Did you know you can download free epubs of public domain classics from a site called Standard Ebooks? Now you do! https://standardebooks.org/
The idea of "falling behind" by not going all-in on a specific technology is a marketing ploy used to create artificial urgency. It's not a fact. If you don't walk down one path you walk down another path. Both have unknown outcomes.
The claim of "falling behind" is the wording that should deter you from that path. In essence it is trying to force a future on you that is beneficial to a specific agent, often out of commercial interest. The claim does not invite you to reflect on your own, or your community’s, needs and wishes.
Artificial urgency is an enemy to independent, thoughtful progress.

Instead of fixing the incredibly bad UI, developers going off on an adventure to implement a feature no one wants—it’s a story as old as time with software (doesn’t matter if commercial or open source and free).

Good God. Just .....ugh
It's absolutely bizarre to express regret for having changed managers.
It defies logic, it defies data, it defies physics, it defies economics, it defies the historical record.
Loyalty and respect are one thing, going down with the captain of the Titanic is something else entirely.
Slot earned the right to be trusted. He was trusted. The trust bought time. During that time, the underlying trajectory did not reverse. Liverpool eventually acted. The consequence of waiting is that Iraola now has to perform the correction while simultaneously rebuilding the footballing structure.
It's going to take months and months.

Somebody decides to get over himself: A story in three parts.
(He had second breakfast and as usual was disgruntled that there was not a third.)

It is becoming increasingly clear to me that one thing Canada *desperately* needs is domestic payment processing capability that's independent of the US, which means no Mastercard, no VISA, no AmEx, no PayPal.
If the US decides to limit those platforms, our ability to do business with the rest of the world is severely curtailed.
Not only should the sale of Moneris be blocked, the infrastructure it depends on needs to be replaced... unless the plan is to use the revenue from the sale to build a solution that works with the rest of the world.
Yesterday was cleaning day.
Summer and I cleaned the house all day long.
Time to take care of deferred maintenance.
We met with a contractor who agreed to paint outside and will replace our largest picture window which failed years ago. Huge and way the heck up there it will be a project. Right when I think the last major projects are done they aren't really.
I also finished writing 200 more voter postcards to be mailed today to Texas.
100 Maine postcards to write before we wait for the next batch.
Time to get some breakfast on the table so I can head to the farmer's market with my daughter.
I wasn't sure what to think about the the attention my last toot got. I was surprised. The act of surviving shouldn't be such a miracle, but it is, and really hasn't gotten easier in fifty years.
My cheering section was keeping me company while I was flipping hotcakes this morning.
Summer says good morning Mastodon.

Pretty wild how Debian fought against "having firmware to run the hardware you have"* for decades, and now immediately buckled to the allmighty slop machine.
*if the firmware is put on a chip with the "you can never update it" fuse blown, it magically ceases to be a freedom problem🙈
@davidgerard @hyblon @sb And to add insult to injury, our kids are being ”born” into an internet like this: More bots than humans, algorithms tools of manipulation.
There is no overreaction. What was once an information superhighway is being turned into a hall of mirrors, fast. Faster than most people can notice.
In all honesty, I think most people are way too relaxed about what’s going on. 🤔
Fascism is a cult of speed. Never forget.
When our first baby was born, my wife became good friends with another new mum. I eventually met her husband and she raves to my wife how well I get on with him. All I do is sit, smile and nod when he talks about trains and his work. Sometimes I have no idea what he's on about.
