UK journalists ‘self-censoring stories about Trump and the right over safety fears’
Journalists are self-censoring their reporting on rightwing protests, Donald Trump’s administration and trans issues because of growing concerns about their personal safety, with newsrooms accused of “normalising” the risks they face.

@federdale Ciao Federica:
Sono d'accordo su quasi tutto. Il movimento dal basso c'è eccome. Con molti limiti, ma le potenzialità sono di più. Basta accostare l'orecchio al terreno per sentirne il tuono. Tutto insieme, tutto vivo. Serve direzione.
Perchè il movimento senza direzione è caos.
"Is this repo manually coded? If it's manually coded you're being left behind."
Ma'am, that is a twenty five thousand LoC slab of C++ code. It targets a console designed twenty two years ago and discontinued twelve years ago. It is an amalgamation of the work of several developers, forked, patched, reformatted, strained, and ultimately inexorably joined in an unholy Make ruleset. Market economics had no hand in the creation of this abhorrence. The fact that this project exists proves that God is either impotent to alter His universe or ignorant to the horrors taking place in his kingdom. This prism of code is more than a story point. It is a physical declaration of mankind's contempt for entropy. It is hubris manifest.
We also have an SDL3 port if you would prefer that.

@mawhrin @mkljczk @abaczuk the specific use case for crypto is human trafficking and slave labour https://archive.is/BgU2f
no doubt our correspondent will claim that story's an op by uh big central bank or something
@davidgerard @mawhrin @mkljczk you seem to misunderstand the nature of the disagreement. no one is disputing crypto is being used for evil purposes (as is state-controlled money).
the part i take issue with is the dismissal of the cases where it's used for good (for example, in my and in others' case, to resist the state's attempts at eradicating trans ppl) as "not a real use case", where you wouldn't do that with state-controlled money. the only difference seems to be that the use cases of state money apply to you personally and the use cases of crypto don't.
i can send you an article on horrific crimes financed by cash anytime you mention using money, but hopefully u see that'd be missing the point.
and you might wanna drop the patronising tone of "no doubt i will claim xyz" if you wanna pretend to at least care about perspectives of marginalised folks.
@Natasha_Jay So evolution itself figured out that Philips screws were trash, eons ago
Plug in solar legal in the UK from end August (baffled that it ever wasn't but here we are, the human species)
@malcircuit agreed. There are a lot of people who consider that the processing part is the important one, I'm more on the opposite side, getting the data by going out there is the part I like, the extra steps to make a good picture is boring. That's why I'm not interested in full automation and remote hosting...
@corpsmoderne Yeah, and I mean, if all someone wants to do is the processing side of things, that's fine. If you get value from that, then download the data and have a blast. Perfectly valid. But it's definitely not the full astrophotography experience, and it's not for me.
