It’s ludicrous that they don’t allow personal gravity banks on shuttlecraft—the chances of the singularity getting loose and eating the airframe are minuscule. Everyone talks about that famous disaster; I’ve done the research and there’s absolutely no credible proof that the loss of USS Thresher NCC-593 was related to a burst graviton weld.
3 year Office for National Statistics study shows that adding "Employment Advice support" to NHS mental health support had a strongly negative impact on employment and income for non-working long-term sick and disabled people.
it also had a negative effect on participants who were already in work.
it had a positive employment/earnings effect only on non-disabled, non-sick participants who were non-working to begin with.

Seattle gave Mark Zuckerberg a proper welcome after he pulled up in his mega-yacht the day after Meta cut 1,400 local jobs. One local artist even set up an easel on the dock and painted Zuck’s yacht going up in flames 🔥
Friend has a new hobby, the wee daredevil
(possibly a hobby so small that it can barely be seen - I work on big images, shrink them to go online, and forget that most people will see it on a phone screen - still, nice flowers anyhow 🤦♀️ )

FWIW, It seems like one of the old Twitter ASNs AS63179 seems to be now doing heavy web scraping (presumably for grok), you can probs get away with dropping the whole thing
@paninid Ah, no apparently it's not on their roadmap. As long as this means manually updating the software, I won't do that.
But, we also host sharkey.world for example , where you can post over 5000 characters
@ruud 🙏🏼
The right whining about the liberal late night shows: were they not paying attention during the Dem president years? They made fun of whoever was in office. But those men were actually manly men: they did not turn into a quivering puddle of excrement every time a comedian made a joke about them. You hear these people talk and you'd think that only the current gov was noticed. It is not a comedian's fault that the orange blight provides so much fodder.
I think @gvwilson once called something like this "the fuckit number", the number of package managers you need to install with other package managers to get from a clean system to something that builds.
The correct number is zero. If your project has a fuckit number larger than two, fuck it.

Who have the power is who decide and
Quoting Mao:
"Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun"
The question is, which are tools they use to decide, is greed, personal interest or historical and material analysis
@RedKoba and Bascule said "knowledge is power". Bulwer-Lytton said "the pen is mightier than the sword."
Violence begets violence.
I do not use AI in my legal work.
Some of my clients use AI.
I saw an AI output this morning, purporting to give information about data protection law (whether an IP address is personal data).
It included two cases, which do not exist. It did not include any case law which does exist. It gave no warning that the output was fiction.
Even if they can get over the ethical concerns (which, currently, I cannot), it would be cheaper, probably more fun, and no less inaccurate to ask a passing toddler.
@neil There have been similar timelines, throughout history, where destabilization has been sought for nefarious reasons, like profiting far more than equitable exchange.
While this happens at multiple scales, it's more worrisome when considering the overlapping geopolitical dynamics adding to the turmoil.
The world's wealthiest are banding together for maximal gain, so the geneeral masses should collectively outperform them, asap.
Since I’m seeing so many people posting about foxgloves yesterday and today, I figured I’d join in.

Can you handle the truth about the REAL robot army that is about to swim through our precious bodily fluids? Find out in my latest for @newscientist
(you need to create a FREE account on New Scientist to read the article)
FYI this column is entirely the result of my reading the abstract of a scientific paper about swarming biohybrid microrobots, and wondering WTF that was. Well, now I know and so do you!!!
Surprised that Netflix is AGAIN raising their price in Denmark today, I looked up the monthly price of Netflix premium across 6 EU countries:
Denmark: EUR 25
Germany: EUR 20
Portugal: EUR 18
Sweden: EUR 18
Czech: EUR 17
Romania: EUR 12
In short: Netflix charges over 200 percent of the Romanian price in Denmark.
And yes, I unsubscribed.
@randahl that's 6-7 Blurays per month.
