These new favicons for Google products are a huge step backwards. I'm always surprised when something like this ships. #UX
Ed Zitron is not a trained journalist, so he's not particularly good at it. i think his finance speculation is... a little wild. but i think he has an instinct for what's going on, and he's being a dick about it in the way that trained journalists can't, or won't. there are things journalists and analysts talk about with each other in private and then later when a scandalous thing happens, they are like "oh everybody knew, we just couldn't say for sure." people like Ed just blurt it out.

@astraluma I feel the same (coding my whole life, not sure I have any other marketable skills) and it sucks. wishing you the best of luck

The medieval calendar had something like 80 to 100 feast days a year when work simply stopped. We engineered ourselves out of every one of them. I’m given to understand this is progress.
@Daojoan Agreed, & ya know what? Even though it sounds so silly doing things like “no work on the sabbath day” where some families would take it so seriously that they would sit and do as little as possible (because they would work extra the day before so little had to be done on the sabbath) and you know what? I think just the rest alone is the most important part! We need more rest, and days set aside where we are to do absolutely nothing!!!
so the reproducible builds evangelism strike force get to whine about how complicated it is to make the build reproducible. if you hate your job then maybe choose a different line of work?
but [6/6] in this patchset has so much more to show us! here is the the reproducible build squadron's best and brightest, making things less complicated:

so, instead of forcing our brave and noble reproducible builds advocates to suffer the cruel and unusual punishment of "splitting up the build process", we now have the much less complex alternative of "adding a backdoor in Kconfig that short-circuits signature checking at runtime"

@lobingera Well an Anthropic cofounder was specifically thanked during the Pope's speech where he said that they will "work together to "find the way for humanity, in this time of artificial intelligence." Chris Olah wasn't a random attendee. The Vatican had been cultivating these relationships for many years.
@jfparis is there a new way to buy into schemes like this? I'd like to get some wind in Scotland
