🌊 Tis the sea-son for new datasets!
Six new eDNA datasets have been mobilized to GBIF from #NOAA via @obis
🧬DNA was extracted from seawater samples from expeditions across the Central North and Western North Atlantic, the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico and the Northeast Pacific between 2021-2023. Marine organisms were identified through eDNA metabarcoding, totaling 692,182 occurrences across the datasets.

Do you care primarily about performance? HFS+ was designed for spinning rust, APFS for SSDs. APFS’s CoW model will lead to more fragmentation, especially on a smallish disk.
Do you care primarily about filesystem integrity? HFS+ has a bunch of bolt-on fixes for a floppy-disk filesystem, APFS has checksums and the CoW design makes it more fault tolerant in the event of power failures or abrupt disconnection.
Also note that Apple has surfaced the CoW features of APFS to a bunch of userspace tools, so these will fall back to doing real copies on HFS+. HFS+ also lacks support for holes, so if you are putting things like disk images or other files with large runs of zeroes, APFS will lazily allocate the space as needed, HFS+ will write a load of zeroes to the disk.
@david_chisnall I care most about integrity, least about speed. I use it mostly for archives, updates occur but are not common.
There's no mystery about why Farage, Trump, Boris Johnson and others of their stamp get away with things that would instantly destroy any leftwing politician: they're protected by the oligarchs they serve, who own most of the media and intimidate much of the rest.
@lina hey, I don't think you need to manipulate the nftables directly nor through firewall-cmd, if you use a container daemon, like the default mode in docker, it does that for you automatically. publishPort makes the container port available on the host directly even if the container is in an internal network. Someone can correct me if I missed something.
If I may guess why you're facing problems, I'd say you're running daemonless podman?
@linuxgeek28 This is rootful and publishPort does not work with internal networks. That's the whole reason I ended up here. Don't ask me why.
Politici, kteří působí paralelně v obecní a krajské samosprávě, budou dál dostávat snížené odměny.

In case you need to use your Microsoft Outlook 365 Active Exchange ActiveSync whatever calendar to #Thunderbird (again), here's a good guide:

I think Zenodo put in place more tight LLM scraping protection. It breaks some of our workflows where we download data files from Zenodo (locally cached).
I wonder if there is a way to authenticate, with some private token or so, so that I can signal it to not block my call
Anyone got ideas? cc @Marvin
Makes you wonder where they are keeping that shiny parade ready equipment stored? 😉
@simonzerafa there won't be vehicles this year apparently, and I've seen people post pictures of anti-drone nets placed around Moscow

not sure i've ever encountered anson rabinbach and gerbils together in the same text before (complimentary)
in a different universe, this would be all i'd post about; but also i'd have walked off into a patch of forest and wouldn't post
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has called a U.S.-proposed resolution demanding Iran stop attacks and laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz a test of the utility of the U.N., and urged China and Russia not to veto it. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/05/06/world/politics/rubio-hormuz-resolution-un-vetoes/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #worldnews #politics #us #marcorubio #un #middleeast #iran #straitofhormuz
Hier? Auf Mastodon? Echt jetzt?
@juergen_hubert
@maddin @skaphle @JochenLingelba1 @tazgetroete
I was at an ethics seminar, for people from different professions - law, medicine, accountancy etc.
One of the topics was "Is it ever appropriate to form a sexual relationship with a client/patient?"
I was surprised that one person argued, quite strongly, that it was acceptable.
I'm not sure that I'd recommend that particular vet.
@neil Winston has a similar dilemma.
