Do you have a more detailed write-up somewhere on how you filter your email?

I just switched to #thunderbird and struggling to come up with a clean strategy.
This is harder than it seems.

Also, how do you get #thunderbird to automatically add people to whom you reply to your address book? My searches were not fruitful.

Are there any good #FOSS alternatives to #Mozilla #Thunderbird with #NoAI ? When I was at the University of Denver I installed Thunderbird once so I could have a local copy of my work emails (through Microsoft), then I deleted it. I've now tried the same trick at CU Boulder (also Microsoft) and been told I need to request access to use Thunderbird. This still might work to back up my emails, but lately I've been thinking it would be nice to have an application instead of using a web client so I get local backups automatically and have a clearner interface. Is there anything good in this space that hasn't been subject to #enshittification ?

Another *valuable* characteristic of the #Thunderbird client is that it can display an email's full headers.

All too commonly, an ESP's native client will NOT display the headers. (I'm looking at you, Gmail and Outlook.)

Worse, those same clients will often display only the "spoofed" sender details.

It's almost like their devs sat down and thought,
"How can we simultaneously make our app worse AND increase the likelihood of our users getting scammed? ... I've got it! Let's remove any possibility of seeing the email headers within our client app!"

I thank God, and Mozilla, for Thunderbird.

Und dann noch alle mail-Konten einbinden in Thunderbird, so ist alles zusammen, und Thunderbird hat auch einen Kalender.

Am besten auch noch PGP als Verschlüsselung, auch wenn das immer noch für viel zu viele Menschen ein unbekanntes Land sein mag! Die Verschlüsselung von Mails ist heute ein Kinderspiel.

@mozillaofficial pulling out of it's ass 1.4bn$ for creating an AI rebel alliance but not able to fucking fix #firefox long lasting issues, demanding donations for #thunderbird is once more a reminder that all those year, the #netscape disater DNA is still there deeeply anchored inside that organization.

I have this weird #IPv6 problem and it's driving me crazy.

So, hear me out.

I have a #wireguard tunnel set up to a VPS because my ISP doesn't offer IPv6. So all IPv6 traffic is routed over the tunnel. Obviously, this means the MTU should be reduced, so I've configured radvd to broadcast an MTU of 1420.

All fine. IPv6 works. I can visit websites, stream audio and video, ssh all over the place, all over IPv6.

Except for #thunderbird. It'll take ages trying to send an email, then complain the server timed out. It'll be unable to save drafts or sent mail to the imap server, complaining about server timeouts.

So I try sending mail with msmtp from the same machine, all is well, no timeouts whatsoever. It's just thunderbird that's being difficult.

I've been staring at this problem for weeks now, done all sorts of tcpdumps along the path from my computer to my mail server. Double-checked that ICMP6 type 2 is passed along neatly across all firewalls involved.

It's got me stumped.

I'm not expecting anyone reading this to be able to provide a solution, I just wanted to share that it's driving me crazy!
