The myth of “AI” is that you can use it to offload lower function mental activity in order to free up higher function. But this assumes that that higher function of thought can operate without the lower to support it, which is in pretty much direct contradiction of all philosophy of mind.
That's a good question. I've been a proponent of a "Universal Livable Income" in order to really decouple the need for working-for-income with basic survival. But that's more difficult to defend against the "causes inflation", "no-one will ever work", and "where will the money come from" crowds. Not to mention the "they don't deserve it" crowd.
I feel like there are some nuances between "Universal Basic" and "Guaranteed Livable" that I don't really understand but probably should (when I have time to read more).
My recollection might be wrong, but I thought "GLI" was, "if you don't make minimum wage we top it up" vs. "UBI" being "everyone gets $500 and if it turns out you're wildly successful we claw it back". GLI doesn't raise the floor, but it gives a hand to people in the gutter. UBI caps the gutter at floor level.
The RAMpocalypse has bought Microsoft valuable time in the fight against SteamOS
Op-ed: Valve has made a dent in Windows' gaming share, but can it keep going?

Valve’s best avenue is continuing arm support development while Microsoft is distracted catching up.
The idea of playing some our steam games on mobile hardware is literally a warning Apple, Google, Sony, and Microsoft are not taking seriously.
Essentially by once and play everywhere.
BREAKING: 5th Circuit Court of Appeals is requiring that mifepristone be distributed only in person at clinics—citing safety as a major reason.
Since 2000 Mifepristone has allegedly caused the death of 28 women
•GOP: We must permanently ban this dangerous drug!
Viagra has at least a 10X greater fatality rate than doe’s Mifepristone
•GOP: We can’t just ban Viagra!
GOP was never pro life—they’ve always been pro control of women
I am super on the fence about Booster Packs in general, because most modern booster pack based trading cards are just gambling.
I've worked around that by making the cards in these packs all equally common/rare, so that there can't really be chase cards.
(and, of course, by being a small game that does not have an existing secondary market, so that even if some cards were rarer than others, there's no dollar value associated with the rarer cards, removing the scratch-off mentality.)
Anyway, I'll post some pictures of the cards tomorrow.
I should get proofs of our booster packs from our printer in the mail tomorrow.

Tonight's Low Quality Ad is for the Ratio Six Coffee Machine. It is built with minimal plastic to reduce the amount of microplastics leeching into your morning coffee. Personally, I crave that sweet, sweet microplastic flavor, but to each their own.

Dang Backblaze is memory hungry on Tahoe, what are we using 33 GB of RAM for?
@christianselig My backblaze install is using up like 45 GB of disk space, and their only solution is "wipe your backup and do a new one from scratch".
I'm seriously looking into ditching them for a homegrown solution using Arq+wasabi or something
