Chris Nicholson and I recently wrote about the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP)'s plans to use "AI" to streamline permitting workflows. This comes at a time when US historical preservation protections (esp. Section 106) face multiple legislative and regulatory threats.

Presidents Park opened in Virginia in 2004, but went under only a few years later in 2010. The 20-foot tall busts of US presidents that were the park's main attraction were moved to a rural field, where they were left to decay. More at https://www.abandonedamerica.us/the-president-heads

Not all my #pottery pieces have direct inspiration in nature, but this Japanese tea cup does (available on Etsy): https://morinopottery.etsy.com/listing/4585102714/autumn-brook-rustic-japanese-tea-cup-8

It's a rugged take on a mountain brook I saw a few autumns ago on a hike.

I carved a handful of lines and used wax resist (that lets the stoneware body show) to make the glazes break and pool in flowy blues and golds. I also used paddling (i.e., I thwacked it 😜) to give the wheel-thrown piece an organic, rock-like shape.

“‘We’re seeing a lot of people make very hard decisions around making sure their kids have food, and they may not eat as a result of that, or having to pay for medicine, and therefore they can’t afford food, or having to choose between transportation and food,’ Beard said.”

How to capture device audio on the web today? 🎵🔊

getDisplayMedia() is not for audio only and forces users to go through a screen sharing option.
Not great for audio use cases (notetaking, music, ...)

We want to fix this. We have a proposal and would love your input ♥️

Alberta doesn’t have an immigration crisis - but it surely faces an economic crisis, if the government succeeds in chasing immigrants and investors away with its racist referendum questions. In the Senate last night, I rose to denounce the scapegoating of migrants, to tell some hard truths, and to laud the economic and social value of newcomers to Alberta, especially for rural renewal. I hope you will share and boost my remarks so that more people can hear them before they vote. https://youtu.be/to7o-4rwHKQ?si=wPe22Rknr7kgu5n4 #cdnpoli #ableg #abpoli #Alberta #Canada #SenateofCanada #immigration
