Great to see this analysis widely reported.
Maintaining poverty is a policy choice. Who benefits?

Helix strikes me as a project that needs to work on its contributor ladder.
The maintainers have a strong vision, which means they need to refuse a lot of PRs to keep the project focused. Having the courage to say no to more feature is one of the key aspects of this product.
But there are also too many PRs for them to review, to the point some become stale for months if not more. The maintainers should work on onboarding new maintainers they can trust, to spread the load.
I started a pol.is conversation on the topic "Fediverse acceleration(?) " ⬇️ (You don't need an account)
pol.is is a FOSS web-app to help find consensus global & subgroup opinions within a set of participants 🤝
I've heard a lot about it over the years, but have had no experience with it. It looks like you rate statements positively 👍 or negatively 👎 and can write your own ✍️ After 7 participants, report data should become available.

Is democracy about procedures or results? 🧐
A deep dive exploring China's outcomes-focused political system. Chinese model, built on performance legitimacy, has delivered historically unprecedented improvement in the standard of living and tangible freedoms. As a result, it enjoys exceptionally high public trust.

I've seen enough to confidently say of the Ruby Central issue:
What the fuck?
A FOSS foundation is meant to be a steward for an ecosystem and all the players in it. It's a vehicle used to convene, make decisions, and allocate resources. And they're only as effective as they are trusted.
It is absurd to unilaterally revoke access of maintainers & wrap it in supply chain security/open gov lingo, while those same maintainers already sought those improvements.

The European Commission has issued a survey on the Governance and Sustainability of Critical Open Source Software.
The survey hopes to identify "pathways for collective efforts" and make "actionable recommendations for public administrations".
It's a relatively short survey, takes max 15 minutes & provides lots of opportunities to rate FOSS as 'very important' 😛
