2 things.
1) if the future is a rehash of the recent past (particularly the last 40-50 years), we're fucked. Excuse the harsh language but it's the only word strong enough to make the point.
2) one reason the left have struggled is an inability to get that hating social conservatives (more than we do) doesn't make centre-right liberals leftists. That was clear with Labour and the war criminal Blair, it's equally clear with Stammer.
But now, a big shift in coalitions is underway.

also, how is jsonld stopping you from doing anything? it's a complete non-factor here. you can still invent as many or as few terms as you want. the only difference is in whether those terms are ambiguous or not. if you want a breakdown in communication, encourage ambiguity/conflict.

Today's #FreeSoftwareAdvent is `tmux`, the terminal multiplexer.
I know that `tmux` will be second nature to many of you, but I've been gradually learning it over the last year (https://neilzone.co.uk/2025/06/more-tinkering-with-tmux/), and I find it invaluable.
Although I had used `screen` for years, I wish that I had known about `tmux` sooner.
I use `tmux` both on local machines, for a convenient terminal environment (from which I can do an awful lot of what I want to do, computing-wise), and also on remote machines for persistent / re-attachable terminal sessions.
- caddy: proxy, fastcgi, builtin static fileserver, traffic shaping requires a module that doesn't do quite what i want. getting tired of guessing my way around caddyfile syntax. don't need its magic certificate management.
- use 'tc' for traffic shaping? big learning curve
- front it with haproxy? lots of redundant features, feels heavy

Not all oil fields are created equal. It’s my ‘layperson’ understanding that some are not even really oil in the beginning of the 20th century sense.
1. Some only produce ‘light’ products of the kind one gets from the top half of a conventional oil distillation column. Some produce gas and liquids that have to be ‘reformed’ into heavier products (expensive).
