A reminder that it's totally ok to warm your paws on your fuzzy tail if it's cold and you're a Pallas's cat, or any cat, or you have a scarf and dammit why can't I do that too. #caturday #pallascat

@sundogplanets a good bag with interior separators can be super useful for multiple stop journeys - or just buying or mental using interior organizers for bags you already have. All the charging cables in one place, all the bathroom supplies in another etc so you just mentally know 'this space should be this full' and can figure out what's missing before you leave.

@joynewacc Western media will try to ignore this as Palestinians are not really human in their eyes and speaking about Israel is anything except mindless praise is politically fraught. Yet polls show a massive shift in public opinion against the Israeli genocide and ethnic cleansing

@StillIRise1963 @timo21 @hwll

There's a word for this, I think -- "charitywashing" or "philanthropywashing"...

@cstross easier than Interrcal, but that is of course a very low bar...

«Hei, er mammaen eller pappaen din hjemme?»
Jeg: «… det er vi som bor her, ja?»
Han: «så du ER mammaen?!»
Jeg: «ja, altså, eller, jeg bor her?»

Han: «nå ble jeg helt satt ut, altså, hvor gammel er du?»

Hahah, nå skal jeg le resten av helga. 😂

@ZebKing @virtuous_sloth Montreal has municipal political parties. They're pretty ephemeral and often cluster around a key (usually mayoral) candidate, but some like Projet Montreal have survived a few generations of charismatic leaders to become something else.

Young's "Abolishing Fossil Fuels: Lessons From Movements That Won" (https://isbnsearch.org/isbn/9798887440330) explores how various social justice movements—women's suffrage, labor rights, race rights, etc.—won battles in the US. I really want a similar book that explores how drugs, pollution, car safety, the stock market, etc. came to be regulated (written for an interested layperson rather than to impress fellow academics). I think it would teach us a lot about how to handle AI.

@fresseng @abulling @Bonfire I imagine that the sorts of providers who sell Mastodon instances in the cloud today will offer this as well if it proves popular enough.

@librarysquirrel Windows 7 is literally the next version of Vista with a new branding, basically Vista wanted 1GB RAM and up to date drivers and then it was *fine*

Sorry I meant "brain plasticity therapy" will be covered by Medicare.

@catsalad Regular Fediverse post.

Quilt finish day! This is one of my favorite quilts ever, I think. It's a 5'x5' throw made of shirting fabrics I'd collected. Some came from random fabric sales and others came from a friend who graciously gave me the stash she was too old to use.

Foundation-paper pieced, hand-quilted.

I don't yet have a better name for it than Shirting Pineapple, we'll see. #quilting #quiltsofMastodon #quilt
