Hi! Today is my first official day as the Executive Director of Mastodon, replacing @Gargron as CEO. I joined the Mastodon team more than 5 years ago, mostly working for Mastodon in the evenings on top of a 120% day job. I was the driving force behind the incorporation of the German non-profit, am a co-founder of the US 501c3 non-profit, and I have contributed to most of the fundraising success, which allowed us to expand the team.

Today I am stepping down from my role as the CEO of #Mastodon. Though this has been in the works for a while, I can't say I've fully processed how I feel about it. There is a bittersweet part to it, and I think I will miss it, but it also felt necessary. It feels like a goodbye, but it isn't—I intend to stay on and continue to advise the new leadership and contribute, because Mastodon—and the fediverse—is one of the very few beacons of hope for a better web.

If you can name a band “Men Without Hats” what else can you be without and still have a band? And an album?
Let’s see your band’s name and make their new album cover!

@alavi I take refuge in Medley Interlisp and CLIM.
@amoroso
They are cool, but I don't think you can realistically create high grade commercial applications with them that many people will use.
@ecosystems is there a definition somewhere for the terms you use? 1.9 million maintainers it says. What exactly is a maintainer according to ecosyste.ms?
@neil we did not see the white smoke emerge from Cupertino
@hipsterelectron same
i do blame the awful bed at my place for this partially but not like i can do much about it

@hipsterelectron meant to write bed not bad i'm still sleepy i think
So I'm thinking about how much I love my small fridge and start to eye the stove.
I do not need four burners. Two is enough. I do not need the oven. Period. I don't use it. I have a very nice, large toaster oven. It's more precise, uses less energy. (and you don't need to bend over)
So, why can't I just have a two burner range with half the width and GAIN counter-space and more storage again?
I've searched far and wide. I would need to buy a "nautical stove" made for a boat!
Better yet? Give me a two burner stove and half-sized dishwasher combo unit.
People would love this in any place where kitchens are small like large cities.
It feels like nothing was made to fit.
NEWS: China bought nearly a million tons of US soybeans, breaking an apparent pause, in a fresh signal that Beijing remains committed to its trade truce with Washington, per Bloomberg.
Le belle notizie dell'attivismo, quella situazione a cui ho vagamente menzionato si sta risolvendo con una presa di posizione verso l3 artist3 e contro le AI.
Non bastano le emoji a dire quanto sono felice 💖😭😂
I hate this weather. I hate the ten-day forecast even more!
Moose looks t BBC forecast for Edinburgh... Hm, not too bad: two days of sunshine... ah, +3C to -3C day/night, not so wonderful. Followed by: OMG Twelve Days Of Rain (with occasional snow). 3:O((>
You have my sincere sympathy.
