RSS doesn’t go down either.

#Bluesky 🦋 is down for many people today (https://status.bsky.app/). For a network that is #decentralized by design, that may sound surprising. But maybe it isn’t. In practice, almost every user is on bsky.social, and most clients rely on Bluesky-run backend services. If that backend has issues, large parts of the network are affected.

No shade, though. I like Bluesky and use it a lot. But days like this make me glad to also be here on #Mastodon 🐘✌️

it seems to me you're asking where the central server for RSS is. and the good news is mr huff, there is no central RSS server. it works like the web that way, where there's no central HTML server. hope that helps! ;-)

RSS doesn't do boosts. what does "social" mean?

imo social media means the people decide what gets spread. boosts are convenient but maybe not necessary. the blogroll was social I guess. posts should probably be public but not necessarily. I'd love to boost a podcast ;)

social networking is more private. my friends, family and communities. messaging and group apps.

they require different moderation approaches to work well also.
