After getting yesterday's email from the Open Science Framework,
(basically, OSF is effectively dead after mid-Feb 2027) how can any of these systems provide confidence as a long-term facility?
I had only just started using the OSF, and have that same gut-wrenching feeling of when Science Twitter started to fade.
@mike_malaska It is a reasonable question and one of the reason we spent so much time discussing who could/should host any infrastructure that people need to be reliable.
The good thing is - if anybody/any institution/any disciplinary society could host their own bonfire server, there is at least some saftey in redundancy.
But we should also acknowledge that basic reliable infrastructure never is free - even if costs are hidden from end users (Zenodo, ORCID). We can learn from their models
