The #DeltaChat server that I was using seems to have stopped working for receiving messages, which sucks 😞 but such is the nature of decentralisation 🤷
It's really easy just to start a new account on a new server - so that's not really a problem - but I'm lucky that I only have one contact that message on the app because "re-adding" people isn't super straight forward. 🤔
@matt Just beginning DeltaChat right now, so i may be wrong, but i think you can subscribe to different servers at the same time, such as if one disappears, others remain.
@Nic Yes, but each one you join you get a unique account. So sure, you can have multiple accounts in one app at a really low cost - but how does the other person know its really you.
Update: Oh, actually, I think you might be talking about Relays. DeltaChat wrote back to my original toot and explained :)
@matt yes ! "relay" was the good term
@matt You can also have several relays on the same account. Contacts will default to the last that they heard from.
@matt Sorry to hear comms broke down! You can add multipe relays (Settings - Advanced - add relay). This way the loss of a single server does not matter later and your chats (given your chat contact also does that) remain resilient against single server losses. I keep toying with the idea of renting a server to run my own DeltaChat relay on Norwegian soil. 🇳🇴
Hopefully will try and set something up by the end of the summer if I am productive. Or end of the year if I am not 🙃
