Darin wurde gezeigt, dass die typischen #socialmedia Apps wie #Instagram, #TikTok, #YouTube etc. auf dem #Handy mit einer Reihe von Nachhaltigkeitszielen kollidieren.
U.a. verursachen sie einen hohen #Energieverbrauch, wobei der nicht direkt auf dem Smartphone, sondern in den #Rechenzentren und #Übertragungsnetzen anfällt. Ein großer Anteil des #Stromverbrauchs geht darauf zurück, dass diese #Apps die Privatsphäre und den #Datenschutz nicht achten, sondern die Nutzer:innen ausspionieren.
Die Nutzung von #Mastodon und anderen #Fediverse-Diensten ist nachhaltiger, weil viel weniger Daten zwischen den Smartphones der Nutzer:innen und den Instanzen der Dienste ausgetauscht werden.
