Doing alt-text is a lot more time consuming too, then no or few boosts occur anyways, so the principle of it and the practice itself becomes what is worthwhile, otherwise i would have stopped awhile ago.
@HeliosPi I think a lot of people simply do not know about this practice here (and need to be gently informed), and some organizations likely use applications to post the same content on various platforms at once, where adding alt-text isn't always doable or favoured.

Agreed. I'm also complaining that it takes a lot more time for me to post media with alt-text, proportionally, and doing so doesn't increase attention to that post.
@Em0nM4stodon In a work chat today: Whoever made the image asset is responsible for writing the alt-text, because it's a part of the image creation process.
I wish when you copy images digitally, alt-text is carried over in the metadata with the image file.
