Not fiction, but Ben MacIntyre is one of the best... super well-researched & written ... all true stories!! Mostly WWII & post-war Cold War.... he's brilliant.

I have enjoyed Rhiannon Beaubien's books - I have her latest way queued up next - with a strong woman protagonist, and her portrayal of Berlin (one of my favourite cities).
