Cap Cloud

Moist air forced to climb the windward slopes has condensed into a dome in the cooler air.

The pinnacles are embedded in it, almost clasping the cloud with a gentle touch.

This beautiful and ethereal formation evolved on a drizzly day in early October.

Eystrahorn (756m/2480ft) in Lónsfjörður, south-eastern #Iceland.

A colour photo of a mountain top with white cloud above it. Most of the rest of the sky is clear cyan apart from above other mountains in the distance. This mountain has steep scree slopes overtopped by jagged peaks. The cloud cap is dense white and some structure can be seen within it, layering and swirls.
