A large, moss covered tree has fallen and nearly reaches a wooded brook. A Tinder Polypore mushroom (Fomes fomentarius), about 5 inches wide and 3 ½ inches high is growing from the middle of the tree, reaching out over some of the snow that is slowly melting. The mushroom is hard with a tan color and traces of dark brown and green. It also has a trickling pile of snow on it. Beyond the top of the dead tree is the brook, its dark water flowing right to left.
