According to the Conflict and Environment Observatory ( @ceobs), global militaries are also responsible for roughly 5.5% of TOTAL greenhouse gas emissions, more than the entire aviation and shipping industries combined, deepening the environmental crisis.
Have been wondering about the cost of current wars/conflicts/military aggressions (“global militaries”) for a while so it is interesting to see it quantified: 5.5% is higher than expected. At least some of that could be ‘low hanging fruit’ - if the right parties dropped off the edge of the world. 🤔
Now add up the Bitcoin-Mining and the oversized "KI-Datacenters" (which both are literally only producing hot air without any real value) and you have a starting lever that literally does not hurt anybody.
