“Op 6 december organiseren Yalla for Sudan en de Sudanese Refugees Organization (SRO) een demonstratie in Amsterdam “om te pleiten voor een onmiddellijk einde aan de genocide en massale wreedheden die zich momenteel in Soedan afspelen”, aldus de oproeptekst voor de actie. Sinds 2023 is er in dat land een oorlog aan de gang tussen twee militaire fracties, de Rapid Support Forces (RSF) en de Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). De bevolking van Soedan is daarvan het slachtoffer, met onnoemelijk veel doden, gewonden, vermisten, vluchtelingen en ontheemden als gevolg. De SRO en Yalla for Sudan organiseerden eerder al demonstraties tegen de genocide in Soedan. De SRO deed dat op 8 november in Amsterdam, Yalla for Sudan de dag erna in Utrecht.
