Any lists of Mastodon accounts from universities in non-German speaking countries known?
@neuSoM In the Netherlands, we have social.edu.nl for Dutch education and research institutions. Maybe @wlaatje has a list of active accounts?

For Germany @sabrinkmann from @54gradsoftware has programmed a list of research institutions with Mastodon accounts

which is updated every morning.
The list is based on the WikiData files of the institutions. So, in principle, the generation of such lists should also be programmable for NL research institutions.
This holds in particular, since the code for the list generation is open source. You probably just have to change the country specifier. Maybe, @sabrinkmann can let you know the site, where the program is deposited.
For us in Germany this list helped enormously to follow the growth of accounts and followers and let us identify, who has posted within the last days.
We are happy to see that Mastodon in NL is advancing also, since we need digital sovereignity for all of us in Europe. 🙂

There is also an official governmental one, for institutional accounts only : https://social.numerique.gouv.fr
It is mainly used by research institutions.

From the Mastodon instance page, you can gather that there are 27 active accounts. Many of them can be found through the instance timeline : https://social.numerique.gouv.fr/public/local
I do not know if doing better is possible. A possibility is to ask @admin

Doch Ehre, wem Ehre 🏆 gebührt: die Listen werden mit einem Programm erstellt, dass von @sabrinkmann, einem der Entwickler bei @54gradsoftware, geschrieben wurde. Sie werden übrigens jeden Morgen aktualisiert.
Mittlerweile hat er die Seite so ausgebaut, dass sie noch viel mehr Institutionen listet als nur #Hochschulen, #Städte und #Gemeinden mit #Mastodon-Account. Einfach mal runterscrollen oder oben in der Menueleiste schauen, was sich unter Wissenschaft, öffentliche Verwaltung und Weitere verbirgt.
@sabrinkmann s Programm basiert übrigens auf den #WikiData-Dateien 🏆 all der gelisteten Institutionen.
Und wir sind allen Genannten sehr dankbar 🙏 für die geleistete Arbeit, auf deren Grundlage wir nun unsere Kampagne #UnisInsFediverse oder für das #Plus1Konzept durchziehen können.
