Platforms prey on publishing: data tracking with 40% profit margins. After decades of inaction by the scholarly community, the EU comes to the rescue - if we let them:

@brembs

I will not let the EU rescue me if it means
1. continuing to rely on Big Publishing like a subsidy of Taylor & Francis (which is not even based in the EU)
2. with zero transparency on its editorial board
3. and no chance to take your manuscript elsewhere in case you run into crazy reviewers.
