@fj If USA wants Greenland, it will take #Greenland and there is realistically nothing #Denmark can do to stop it. Any military defense would be crushed and a guaranteed loss for Denmark
Negotiations are theatre designed to make the EU look weak. This should be a wake up call to #eu how weak and deindustrialized the US has forced EU countries to become. The only thing Denmark can do is grovel, which is the theatre Trump wants, but that's not negotiations and it shouldn't do that
I assume an invasion to capture territory by military force is an act of war. Would that require the tearing up of the NATO treaty?
Would both require the approval of Congress?
I can't see how the administration could construct a Venezuela type excuse to get around the 'none-war' justication.
So it is not Constitutional. So what? could be the difficult answer. Even if SCOTUS rules against who is going to enforce it?

Realistically we have a whole reindustrialization catching-up ahead of us, that most of European population still does not understand, that will be actively interfered with, and led by people who have little to no idea how production works in principle, but on the plus side for now the rule of law prevails here, which tends to attract both people who are into making great tech and to allow them to build production businesses.
Just the whole path-to-market remaining to figure out.

Trump picked a war that should be impossible to lose. He targeted a hated, undemocratic, and unpopular leader for a seemingly easy victory. But if there is anyone who can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, it's this U.S. government.
1. They did not kill Maduro. They intend to bring charges against him in a U.S. court. This move could backfire spectacularly with all the lawbreaking.
2. Trump says U.S. officials such as Rubio, Hegseth, and Caine will 'run' Venezuela. There is no better way to unite country than the sight of foreigners looting and incompetently running it.
3. This will embolden every nearby Marxist guerrilla group. All they will need is quiet financial/weapons support from foreign adversaries. "Lose every battle, win the war" seems to work against America.
