From a podcast " #Japan has one of the longest lived and healthiest populations in the world, and let #Japanese startups are playing a relatively small role in the recent #longevity- #tech boom."

Could it be because tech has nothing to do with longevity in Japan? That it's actually lifestyles, healthcare, & traditional diets that matter?

Couldn't that be the lesson here?

I don't know if it has been recalculated but about 20 to 30 years ago the Japanese authorities began checking on some of these centenarians and found that there was widespread fraud going on. If the death of Obasan was not reported the government would keep sending her pension cheque.
