@maram4 Thanks, Maram. The alt text (short for alternative text) describes the image for people who cannot see it and use special tools known as screen readers to have a description read out to them so they can experience it too.

You can add a description to your images yourself when posting and you can also edit your posts to add descriptions that others have provided for you to existing posts.

(On Mastodon, a lot of people don’t boost posts that don’t contain alternative text so it’s a good habit to get into if you can. Given the hardships you’re being forced to endure, it’s perfectly fine if you can’t. Others will help, like I just did.)
