What I fear is that in the aftermath of the Gaza genocide, it will no longer be possible to continue teaching and researching the Holocaust in the same manner we did before. Because the Holocaust has been so relentlessly invoked by the State of Israel and its defenders as a cover-up for the crimes of the I.D.F., the study and remembrance of the Holocaust could lose its claim to be concerned with universal justice and retreat into the same ethnic ghetto in which it began its life at the end of World War II — as a marginalized preoccupation by the remnants of a marginalized people, an ethnically specific event, before it succeeded, decades later, to find its rightful place as a lesson and a warning for humanity as a whole.

Maatregelen niet nodig want er worden steeds meer vrachtwagen met voedsel door gelaten. Vandaag wel 10 meer dan gisteren! Nou, nou, poeh poeh.
Ondertussen wordt er bij de schaarse voedsel uitdeelpunten door het Israëlische leger gericht op burgers geschoten. Op kinderen. Door sluipschutters. Zoals een arts aangaf: one in the head, one in the heart.

How European Ministers came from "review trade ties" to "keep a close watch on Israel’s compliance with a recent agreement to improve humanitarian aid access into Gaza."???

"Member states were presented with 10 options, including:

Full suspension of the agreement.
The EU suspension of its preferential trade and/or research pillars.
An arms embargo.
Sanctions on Israeli ministers.
Halting visa-free travel for Israeli citizens to the #EU.
Banning trade with Israeli #settlements.
However, none of the options gathered the necessary support during the meeting.

Reacting to the decision, Amnesty International’s secretary general Agnès Callamard said: “The EU’s refusal to suspend its agreement with #Israel is a cruel and unlawful betrayal of the European project and vision, predicated on upholding international law and fighting authoritarian practices, of the European Union’s own rules and of the human rights of Palestinians."

Het was vanaf het begin af aan duidelijk: vage onderzoeken instellen, tijdrekken en laf voor je uitschuiven, vooral geen sancties instellen, maar wapens blijven leveren en Israel geen duimbreed in de weg leggen. Veldkamp heeft bloed aan zijn handen.
