Years ago, I started the GalaxyGoo Cell Project, and we ran huge workshops at the Maker Faire. Where we led kids of all ages and they built 3D models of cells as we talked them through the protein pathway.

They took their models home, and let them dry, before slicing them open an looked at their cross sections.

We took them on a macro-simulation of electron microscopy.

It was amazing.

At this year's Maker Faire, last month, I 'gave away' a bunch of kits and instructions for $1 each.

Why $1? My thinking is that if I charge even $1, folks are more likely to actually build the models and learn than if I gave them away for free.

I did give a bunch of the kits away, at close down on the last day, to the family running a booth next to mine. They promised me they would make use of them. So I hope they did.
