@everton137 On our server, yes. Go to Preferences/Posting Defaults. The option is there. Default is 'Anyone'.
To quote a post, select the Boost icon and you will have the option to Boost or Quote.
@everton137 I don't think many instances have upgraded to 4.5 yet. Mine hasn't yet and it's usually not that tardy.
However what we do already have is a pre-emptive ability to disable others quote-posting us once the upgrade happens and I guess many, including me have opted out, at least until we see how it works out.
On a Mastodon instance (I'm still back on v4.4.8)
Preferences --> Other -->
"Who can quote:
This setting will only take effect for posts created with the next Mastodon version, but you can select your preference in preparation."
I have my profile set to Followers Only
So not everyone can quote anyone...
@FinchHaven Okay, so the default is very limited. Got it. Weird.
And it can be turned off entirely, too
Vague impression I have is that a lot of people have quoting turned off
After all the sturm und drang quote posting may not be a popular as some want to think...
@everton137 maybe it's reliant on the source server upgrading? Vivaldi was quick off the mark to update and I can quote your post.
@Odaeus Yeah, but I changed my settings early. So I am not sure if that's the reason...
@everton137 Wha.. hu? Really? There ist now? Since when?
Okay, maybe it needs an update to the servers?
@everton137 Oh, thank you! 😀 @phanpy
