NYTimes (behind a paywall) is reporting that as of 6PM, 1.85 MILLION PEOPLE have casted a vote in these #2025elections. Al Jazeera (in an unplayable tiktokish video) says +2MILLION are projected to vote by the 9PM deadline.
that’s almost 25% of the total population of #nyc. not of total elegible voters. 2 MILLION is 22.5% of the estimated 8,804,190 souls living in The City.
this is a MASSIVE turning point for this city and this country.
i don’t remember voting in any #nyc elections i which 2 million people voted, even less for mayoral elections. maybe am wrong. maybe it happened with Koch but both Giuliani and Bloomberg won with the barest of minimums. Bloomberg’s first election was on September 11, 2001 and he won with a handful of votes.
tonight is truly historic in more ways than one.
