What I did was open this link in a browser;

https://matrix.to/#/!KfSkhKqPiXJIpjaRgY:getdweb.net

Then where it says;

"If you already have Element installed, you can open it here."

... I clicked that link, which opened my native Matrix app (on Android). That joined me to the DWeb 'space' (equivalent to a Discord 'server'), and from there I could join the community-chitchat room.

I agree it's a rough UX, but it does seem to work.
