White men in tech have a lot of repair work to do.
For decades, too many of you have sat comfortably in rooms built on exclusion, quietly benefiting while you lionized other mediocre, unremarkable white men as “visionaries.”
You watched as they coded harm, unchecked and unchallenged, because it didn’t seem to harm you.
Now we’ve arrived here, at the inevitable outcome of that silence and complicity.
Where beliefs and statements like this are not fringe, but normalized:
“My life mission has been [to] work on a piece of technology that would improve the quality of life of every human on the planet and hasten the coming of Christ’s return.”
Let’s be clear: this isn’t innovation.
It’s indoctrination, powered by delusion and funded by systems, institutions, and policies built to center white men’s desires, fears, and interpretations of “good.”
When the myth of white supremacy and patriarchy merge with technological power, we don’t get progress…we get control.
We get “solutions” that reproduce oppression at scale, wrapped in branding that promises salvation.
And what’s worse is how many white men who knew better said nothing.
You shrugged,
justified,
laughed it off,
or told yourselves that “he’s not that bad.”
Because to challenge a fellow white man meant risking your own proximity to comfort, credibility, or control.
But here’s the truth:
You can’t code your way out of the harm you’ve helped create.
You can’t “ethics board” your way out of systems, institutions, and policies that were designed to exploit.
And you cannot, under any circumstance, build technology that leads to liberation if you haven’t first dismantled the lies of superiority within yourselves.
White men…it’s time to train.
To unlearn.
To take responsibility.
To use the immense access and privilege you hold not to build the next “world-changing” app, but to repair the world you’ve already helped break.
Because this moment isn’t about building a new coded “thing”.
It’s about becoming a new kind of man.
