Terrifying that this much of a large state can just catch fire in a day. (Understandably) haven't yet heard from all my coworkers and friends in the regions but bracing for the reality that its likely impacted some of them
This person interviewed on the ABC fires liveblog has impressive logistical skills and has had a very bad day
I've uploaded the stylesheet so you can apply it to the VicEmergency website using Developer Tools in your web browser.
It desaturates the basemap, makes fire boundaries opaque and more visible with thicker stroke, hides advice zones and blurs watch & act and emergency zones so it's not as cluttered.

Acrid smoke on the air here at Bacchus Marsh now. Fires have sprung up everywhere. Conditions and fire development are reminescent of Black Saturday 2009. Even without the preceding 5-day heatwave with temperatures in the low 40s (Celsius) that we had back then. I really really hope the casualty list doesn't compare and that my friends on DEECA fire crews and CFA crews are OK.
