Acrid smoke on the air here at Bacchus Marsh now. Fires have sprung up everywhere. Conditions and fire development are reminescent of Black Saturday 2009. Even without the preceding 5-day heatwave with temperatures in the low 40s (Celsius) that we had back then. I really really hope the casualty list doesn't compare and that my friends on DEECA fire crews and CFA crews are OK.
