You know, it's kinda crazy that I find a service pattern of "only on Sunday before Christmas, Sunday after Christmas and Ascension" in SNCF data and the part I feel weirded out about is that France gets their Thursday-after-Easter holiday three weeks before (most of) the rest of Catholic Europe. Probably don't have to dodge processions to get much anywhere on that day, either

I actually happen to have tried Cartes somewhat recently, having been linked there from somewhere on Fedi, and found the stop view, with each line having a timeline with ticks marking departure times particularly interesting and original. One of the most compact tools for assessing bus headways I've seen:

(Now, for anyone interested, they do only support places in France right now)

A screenshot from the linked blog post I've taken the liberty to republish for commentary - cartes.app showing a bus stop with at least 3 bus lines - for each line, the number, direction, next departures (going like "in 20 mins | 55 min | 20:40 | 21:05") and a timeline divided at 8 AM and 8 PM into day and nighttime are shown. Under each timeline is a mass of gray tick marks corresponding to bus departures - here notably empty between 2 AM and roughly 10 AM and then mostly equally spaced. One bus line is expanded and also shows a more orthodox timetable with per-hour columns showing minutes of departure times, and also a notice that there are multiple possible termini.
