It’s hard to claim joy among so much suffering, but we must try.
It’s that joy they try to crush.
I wish everyone comfort and joy, this Christmas and always.

Are you someone who's uncomfortable with homeless shelters or encampments near your home/work/kid's school/parent's longterm care home?
Here's the answer to ending homelessness that you've been looking for:
Universal Basic Income & Guaranteed Low Cost Housing
No one chooses to live on the street. And no, choosing the street over a worse option is not actually choosing the street.
UBI provides every person with the money they need to survive, and low cost housing puts them literally in a place where they can begin a new life.
Opposing UBI while complaining about homeless people is like opposing abortion and also opposing contraception. Both positions are like complaining about the snow in the house while refusing to shut the doors and windows.
(Yeah, I know that tooting this on Mastodon is preaching to the choir, but I had to vent.)
“Today, right now, right here, is the easiest moment to draw the line against Donald Trump. Every day from here, it will get harder — the politics more inevitable, the destruction more irreversible, the sheer waste more costly, the downstream impacts on American life and the world beyond more catastrophic. The challenge is that fact has also been true every day for the last nine years.”
