Colour 5 done for all 4 parts. Making a picture of all of them completely visible is getting harder. After colour 5, there’ll be colour 2, 3 and 4, and then I should end up with 4 squares. #crochet #pentapatch #blanket

I think I won’t redo the last one, but accept the mistake, and just use it as is.

Did all 4 parts, up to the brown colour. Now to make them squares. Still not sure if I’ll redo the first one, or if I’m ok with it as is. #crochet #pentapatch #blanket

“Omas / Opas Schätze” / Grandma’s or Grandpa’s treasures
This crocheted wool afghan blanket, made by my wife’s grandfather, has kept us (and our cats) warm for decades. He was a kind, generous man, and we love how it keeps his memory close, especially in the winter months.
Some more progress. If you compare the biggest two pieces, you can see I did something wrong on the biggest piece as the inner parts are circles there, and I think they should have been squares like in the second biggest part. I’m not sure I have enough yarn to redo it, so I’ll first complete the other three parts, and then see if it bugs me enough to frog the first part and risk not having enough yarn. I already weaved in the ends so that makes it more of a hassle. #crochet #pentapatch #blanket

More progress. Next up: I need to chrochet this piece 3 more times. It’ll likely go faster than the first one as I’m not as clueless anymore. #crochet #pentapatch #blanket
Finally past the point where I kept messing up! Now on to a new spot to mess up. 😝
I'm one of the crazy people in France who don't heat his #home.
Just removes humidity. Can't afford heating, but I have all stuff to stay warm (clothing, etc)
It can go below 10°C
I know the techniques to sleep with -5°C : goose down #blanket, #wool hat, wool gloves, wool socks
And breath strongly at morning when dressing good clothes!
But in Gaza they don't have all this useful things now. It's an emergency to help them

Started making a blanket in October 24th 2023.
Just finished it.
Made using crochet with pre-looped yarn and it was my first time using that sort of yarn.
I think that *actual making* was probably 6 - 8 (?) hours, I had ten balls of yarn.
Enjoyed it a lot! Learned quite a bit about stitch directionality and also ways to deal with dropped and/ or extra loops.

It's been a week of finishing off long running projects.
Ravelry tells me this took two years and fifty six days (not continuously, obviously) and last night it went to it's forever home to keep warm someone I care about.
The Jamiesons of Shetland wool was a dream to knit with. I love the colours and I'm really happy with how it turned out.
